Regional Produce was formed by second generation produce professionals when the owners of Yarbrough Produce Company and Douglass Produce Company merged their talents, experience, and resources.

By that time, Douglass Produce had already been in continuous operation in Birmingham for more than one hundred years, while Yarbrough Produce had also been serving the greater Birmingham market since the middle of the last century.
